MMKay Productions is Mona Maclay & Kayla Lane Freeman.
We’re a pair of creative producers who make gross but glam films and video content. With a range of artistic training under our belts, we specialize in spinning shoestring budgets into queer, audacious gold.
Mona Maclay is a filmmaker, production designer, producer, and artist based in Austin. At The University of Texas at Austin she’s worked as a producer/director on instructional and educational videos for federally funded research projects, including work in studios and on location in elementary schools. Mona has also worked in Austin and Chicago as a scenic artist, props designer, and event artist–including work in film, theatre, private, corporate, and charity events, clients including: Target, Navy Pier, Illinois Institute of Technology, The Marriott Theatre, and The University of Wisconsin. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting.

Kayla Lane Freeman
Kayla Lane Freeman is an Austin filmmaker, producer and comedienne by way of Chicago. She has a B.S. in Radio-TV-Film from UT Austin and has worked on set, in post-production or as an impact producer for Sundance Channel, Kartemquin Films, Texas Freedom Network and for Austin & Chicago indie filmmakers. Kayla has also worked with corporate clients including Buffalo Wild Wings, American Red Cross, Yum Foods, and AbbVie Pharmaceuticals as a Content Producer of educational multimedia.
Kayla's film directorial debut, The NDE, was an official selection for the Austin Lift-Off Film Festival, Dark Comedy Film Festival, Lysistrata Comedy Festival and the ATX Short Film Showcase, where it was also screened as part of the 2023 “Best of the Year” comedy program. In 2023 and 2024, Kayla was a recipient of an Austin Film Society production grant for Plant Moms, currently in post-production.
